Shrewsbury man admits manslaughter of woman

A Shropshire man will face a murder trial after his guilty plea to a woman's manslaughter was rejected.

Steven Churchill, 51, of Stephenson Road, Shrewsbury, appeared before Shrewsbury Crown Court.

He denied murdering Jane Frances Edwards at her flat at Caradoc View in Hanwood, on 14 December 2010.

Mr Churchill, who admitted manslaughter, at the hearing on Monday, is due to face a murder trial at Birmingham Crown Court, on 28 November.

He was remanded in custody.
