Arson attack at empty Telford home

A fire at an empty Shropshire home was an arson attack, police said.

A neighbour, alerted by smoke alarms, called the fire service and poured water through the letter box in Western Rise, Ketley, Telford.

West Mercia Police said due to the neighbour's actions, the fire was put out very quickly by the service and there was only minor damage.

An ignited piece of paper had been put through the letter box, causing a fire in the porch on Monday afternoon.

The property has been boarded up since the incident, which happened between 14:30 and 15:00 BST.
