Man arrested after football player racially abused

A man has been arrested after a Shrewsbury Town footballer was racially abused at a match on Monday.

West Mercia Police said the 29-year-old man from Northamptonshire was arrested after a steward heard abuse shouted at Jermaine Grandison.

The man was questioned about a racially aggravated public order offence and has been released on police bail.

Shrewsbury Town had been playing Northampton Town at the Greenhous Meadow ground.
