Escaped cattle kept from Ludlow town centre by residents

Ludlow residents helped police round up escaped cattle heading for the centre of a Shropshire town centre.

About 40 young animals were reported to be loose in Raven Lane at 04:30 GMT, and heading towards the town centre.

Police said about 20 cattle were captured by members of the public in Raven Lane car park and the others around the castle grounds.

The cattle were returned to their owner after three hours, according to West Mercia Police.
