Fan charged with racial abuse of Shrewsbury Town player

A 29-year-old football fan has been charged with racially abusing a player during a League Two match.

The man, from Northamptonshire, is accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words towards Shrewsbury Town player Jermaine Grandison.

The man was arrested during Shrewsbury Town's home game against Northampton Town at the Greenhous Meadow ground on 2 January.

He is due before Shrewsbury and North Shropshire magistrates on 16 February.
