Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Shrewsbury's Quarry Park

A giant street party has been held in a Shropshire park as part of Diamond Jubilee celebrations across the county.

Some 1,300 people applied to sit at "streets" of tables and chairs laid out in Shrewsbury's Quarry Park, with many more attending the event.

Bagpipers joined in with festivities at Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge.

A 5m (16ft 5in) beacon was built at Lyth Hill, near Shrewsbury, was lit at 22:10 BST.

Two other beacons are being lit at Grinshill and The Wrekin, with more than 4,000 being lit across the Commonwealth.
