Lawley homes plan passed amid protests

Plans for a housing development of nearly 400 homes in a Shropshire village have been passed by councillors despite protests from local residents.

Developers Ironstone had applied to build the 388 new homes in the centre of Lawley, near Telford.

However, campaigners against the plans said it would involve building on a third of a playing field.

About 50 local residents attended the Telford and Wrekin Council planning meeting on Wednesday night.

Outline planning permission for a total of 3,300 homes, a new school and extra infrastructure for the village was granted in 2005.
