Arriva Trains Wales train window damaged in attack

An object has been thrown at a moving train in Shrewsbury.

The Arriva Trains Wales service was travelling from Swansea to Shrewsbury when the object was thrown at Bayston Hill on Wednesday.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the collision caused "significant damage" to the driver's window.

The force added "consequences could have been catastrophic" should the window have broken and such behaviour was "extremely dangerous".

Sgt Karl Anderson said: "Any object thrown at a train has the potential to become a lethal weapon due to the speeds involved."
