More time to question Dawley stab suspect

Police have been given more time to question a man arrested after a stabbing in Telford in the early hours of Sunday.

A 36-year-old man was found with stab wounds near Harp Lane in Dawley at 04:10 BST.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital, officers said.

A 34-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, remains in custody and is being questioned, detectives said.

Det Insp Pete Brophy, who is investigating the incident, said: "We believe that the victim was in the Three Furnaces pub earlier on during the night on Saturday with others, including some women.

"At some point an alleged altercation broke out within the pub. "

He said officers were particularly keen to trace the women and anyone else who witnessed the fight in the pub.
