Shrewsbury's Lord Hill statue to get safety check
A statue, cordoned off since a piece of masonry fell from it in April, is to be inspected.
The masonry was from the left hand of the 17ft (5m) high Lord Hill statue, which stands on top of The Column in Shrewsbury.
Shropshire Council said conservation specialists would look at the statue and decide if repairs are required.
The 133ft (40.5m) tall column is the tallest Doric column in the world.
It commemorates Waterloo general Lord Rowland Hill who was born in Hawkstone in 1772 and was second in command to the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo in 1815.
