A 21-year-old man has admitted murdering a busker who was found injured on a Shropshire canal footpath.

Stewart Kevin Doran, of Bainbridge Green, Harlescott, pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court to killing 43-year-old Guy Benson Bebbington.

He was discovered with head injuries between Ditherington Road and Telford Way in Shrewsbury in the early hours of 7 September. He died in hospital.

Doran was remanded in custody to be sentenced at a later date.

He pleaded not guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice.

Bradley Davies, 18, of no fixed abode, who is also charged with Mr Bebbington's murder, did not enter a plea and will reappear at Birmingham Crown Court on 15 February.

Mr Bebbington, known as Ben, was often seen busking in Shrewsbury.

His family described him as a "kind and generous free spirit" who enjoyed roaming the countryside, writing poetry and music.
