Telford Crisis Network appeals for donations following launch

A Shropshire organisation set up to help people in need is appealing for more donations and volunteers, two days after its official launch.

The Telford Crisis Network is made up of 40 local charities and advice-providers, including the Telford Foodbank and the local authority.

Co-ordinator Jake Bennett said it was supporting "more people than anticipated" as they find the service.

He said the network replaced the financial crisis loan with vouchers.

Mr Bennett said: "Hopefully the network isn't just about giving a voucher for gas and electric, or a food parcel to feed them that day, it really ought to be about cross-referrals across the network, utilising all the agencies in Telford to see what they're strong at addressing the underlying causes of that person's crisis."
