Dead woman's throat had been cut, Shropshire coroner says

A woman who was found dead at her home in Shropshire had been struck on the head and had her throat cut, a post-mortem examination found.

Beatrice Bennett, 75, known as Trixie, was found dead at her home in Market Drayton, Shropshire, on 20 May.

Mrs Bennett's husband, John Bennett, 74, was arrested at the house the same day and later charged with murder.

He remains in custody and is due at Stafford Crown Court on 8 August. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
