Man in court over Market Drayton petrol threats

A Market Drayton man accused of threatening to ignite petrol during a police stand-off has appeared in court.

Anthony Lee Orwell, 62, was arrested on Monday evening after police were called to Victoria Quays at about 15:30 BST.

He faced one charge of making an explosive substance for unlawful purpose at Telford Magistrates' Court.

Mr Orwell, of Victoria Wharf, did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear before Shrewsbury Magistrates' Court on 22 September.
