Shropshire pony Chester rescued from slurry pit

A pony has been rescued after it fell into an underground slurry pit and became trapped.

Chester was found in the trench, on farmland near Wellington, Shropshire, at about 08:25 GMT.

Fire crews from two stations spent around two hours removing the animal from the hole, using specialist animal rescue equipment.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said there was "a lot of cleaning to be done" after the rescue.
