More than £10m of funding has been secured to improve links between Telford Central station and the town centre, the council has said.

Telford and Wrekin Council said it will add a further £2m to the £10.3m awarded by the Department of Transport.

Some of the money will be used to build a footbridge between the station and the town centre.

The funding will also be used to convert Hall Park Way and Rampart Way into dual carriageways.

Councillor Bill McClements said: "It will help greatly improve the welcome to the town centre for visitors arriving by train, which at the moment doesn't reflect the great offer we have."

The council said it expects work on the scheme to start in spring 2016.
