A special church service has been held for the latest Somerset-based Royal Marine to die in Afghanistan.

Marine Adam Brown, 25, was killed in an explosion on Sunday while on foot patrol with 40 Commando, based in Norton Fitzwarren.

The service took place in his home village of Burtle, near Glastonbury.

Marine Brown, who married his wife Amy in December 2009, is the 14th member of 40 Commando to be killed in Afghanistan during the current deployment.

His body is due to be repatriated to RAF Lyneham on Thursday, along with that of Lance Sergeant Dale McCallum from the 1st Battalion Scots Guards, who died on the same day.
