Pedestrian dies after Portishead collision

A pedestrian has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Portishead, North Somerset.

A police spokesman said the 19-year-old was walking along Nore Road when he was struck by a Skoda Fabia at about 0130 BST earlier.

He was taken to Frenchay Hospital, near Bristol, by ambulance, but died.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokeswoman said officers knew the driver's identity, but no arrests had been made.

Police would like any witnesses to contact them.
