Man killed on M5 in Somerset is named by police


A 28-year-old man who was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on the M5 between Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset has been named by police.

Sam Cottam from Windsor, Berkshire, was struck on the southbound carriageway of the motorway. It is thought he had walked across the central reservation.

A force spokesman said it was believed Mr Cottam had left his vehicle after a crash on the northbound carriageway just before 2300 BST on 8 October.

Witnesses are asked to call police.
