Two schools in North Somerset are to have more than £4m spent on them to improve facilities.

Portishead's Trinity Anglican Methodist primary will be extended and the number of places increased from doubled to 420.

Backwell Secondary school is to get a new two-storey building with three classrooms, a theatre and dance studio.

North Somerset Council said it was pleased the work would go ahead despite the current financial situation.
