Woman beaten near Yeovil infants school

An investigation is under way after a woman was assaulted in front of young children and their parents.

The victim was left bleeding from a head wound following the attack, which happened near Reckleford Infants School in Yeovil on 12 October.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said a man and woman were seen arguing at about 1500 BST before the woman was assaulted.

The pair then walked off towards the town centre, he said.

The man is described as white, bald, of large build, and was wearing blue jeans and short-sleeved top.

A police spokesman appealed for witnesses, and said there were many children and parents in Eastland Road at the time who may have seen the incident.
