Plan to promote renewable energy use on Somerset Levels

A new project to encourage communities on the Somerset Levels to generate their own energy has started.

The levels and moors project aims to provide support for those wanting to develop renewable energy schemes.

It is hoped the project, set up by the Centre for Sustainable Energy, will provide income from selling excess energy to the National Grid.

Members will be offered help and advice getting renewable energy projects off the ground.

These include photo-voltaic panels, windmills, biomass burners and heat pump technology.
