Community offers reward to catch Somerset swans gunman

People in Somerset have raised £10,500 to offer a reward for information that leads to the conviction of a gunman who shot dead eight swans in Somerset.

A spokeswoman for the Secret World charity, which is treating one surviving swan, said "concerned members of the public" had raised the money.

The birds were shot with air gun pellets in a field outside Blackford.

The RSPCA is investigating the incident which is believed to have happened on 21 February.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokeswoman said the neighbourhood team was carrying out extra patrols.
