More than half of children's centre managers in Somerset are to lose their jobs as part of council cuts.

Nine managers are being made redundant while the remaining eight will each look after a number of centres rather than just one.

Eventually the centres will be handed over to charities to run.

The Conservative-run council says this plan will save more than £660,000 and will mean none of the county's 41 centres will have to close.

The authority has published on its website the new make-up of management clusters.
