South Somerset CAB gets council grant

South Somerset's Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has been awarded £117,000 to help it continue providing free legal, housing and debt advice.

The grant from the district council represents about a third of the bureau's expected costs this year.

Monica Carrier, the bureau's chief officer, said: "In the last 11 months, we have helped people with over £4.5million of new debt."

The Yeovil-based bureau supports more than 5,000 people a year.
