Cheese lorry catches fire on Somerset road

A lorry carrying 24 tonnes of cheese has caught fire on a Somerset road.

Firefighters were called to the A359 at Galhampton Hill, near Castle Cary, soon before 0800 BST.

A fire service spokesman said: "The fire was spreading rapidly through the articulated lorry, subsequently setting the cheese alight."

He said a fault on the lorry was believed to have caused the blaze. The road was closed near the junction with the B3152.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the lorry was on its way to a garage to get the fault fixed when it caught fire.
