Tributes have been paid to a student who died after falling through the roof of a warehouse in Bath.

Vanessa Clarke, 23, fell 20ft (6m) onto the concrete floor of the Travis Perkins building on Lower Bristol Road in the early hours of Saturday.

Miss Clarke, a third-year Computer Science student at the University of Bath, was also a Bath Jets cheerleader.

Tributes, including flowers and cheerleading vests, have been left on railings close to the site.

'Tragic accident'

In a statement, a Bath University spokesperson said the institution was "saddened" by the news.

It went on to say: "Police are treating Vanessa's death as a tragic accident and inquiries are continuing.

"The University wishes to express its deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

"We recognise the impact this will have on students and staff who knew Vanessa and are offering a range of support."
