Police are investigating what they describe as "disgraceful and mindless" vandalism of a graveyard in Bath.

Over the course of the summer, vandals have carried out a string of attacks at Haycombe Cemetery and Crematorium.

Incidents include damage to war graves, statues pushed over and memorial stones being thrown into a pond.

Cathryn Humphries from Bath and North East Somerset Council said she was "shocked and horrified" at the vandalism.

There have also been incidents of windows being smashed and plant containers broken.

Avon and Somerset Police said the most recent attack was 6 September but there were similar incidents on 24 and 29 August.

Security is being tightened and police patrols increased at the location.
