Gloucester Cathedral stained glass window to celebrate Ivor Gurney

A new stained glass window celebrating the life of a composer and poet has been commissioned for Gloucester Cathedral.

Ivor Gurney was born in Gloucester in 1892 and was a chorister at Gloucester Cathedral.

The eight-light window will be designed by artist Thomas Denny and installed in the cathedral's Lady Chapel.

A charity festival is to be held at the cathedral on 31 August to raise money for the window.

Opera singer Sarah Connolly and actor Simon Callow will appear at the festival which will include a selection of music composed by Gurney and his peers.
