Bruton hit-and-run: Woman released over fatal collision

A woman arrested in connection with the death of an 84-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop has been released without charge.

David Hick was found lying in Cole Road, Bruton, Somerset, with head injuries on Tuesday, and later died.

The woman and a man, who are both in their 40s and from South Somerset, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to report a crash.

The man remains in police custody.

Officers have a further 36 hours to question him.

Police are continuing their search for a black Chrysler Grand Voyager, believed to have left the scene without stopping.

Mr Hick, a retired engineer, was walking to a local shop with his two dogs when he was struck by the car.
