Paramedics and police assaulted in Yeovil attack
Three paramedics and a police officer have been injured after being assaulted by a man in Yeovil.
Three South Western Ambulance Service staff were attacked at a garage forecourt in Reckleford Road, at about 05:40 GMT, a spokesman said.
They were taken to hospital in Yeovil for treatment and have now been released from hospital.
A male police officer was also taken to hospital with a hand injury. A man has been arrested.
Two other police officers - a man and a woman - were also assaulted but they did not require hospital treatment.
South Western Ambulance Service's chief executive, Ken Wenman, said: "Ambulance staff work under extreme pressure and are often under threat of attack.
"We take incidents such as this very seriously and will take whatever action is necessary to ensure that our staff are protected and those responsible for such attacks are prosecuted.
"My thoughts are with our staff, the victims of this assault."
Avon and Somerset Police said the man was arrested on St Cleers Way in Somerton.
Detectives appealed for anyone who was near the garage and Halfords store area of Reckleford, from 05:30 GMT onwards, to get in touch.
They said they would also like to hear from anyone who was in the St Cleers Way area between 06:30 and 07:15 GMT.
