More than 45,000 cigarettes have been seized in a series of raids across Somerset.

Seven shops and five storage units in Bridgwater, Shepton Mallet, Taunton and Yeovil were targeted as part of a crackdown on non-UK duty paid products.

HM Revenue and Customs and trading standards officers also discovered more than 80 litres of spirits and eight kilograms of rolling tobacco.

One man was arrested and a car and some £21,500 in cash recovered.

The 42-year-old, who was arrested in Yeovil on suspicion of evasion of excise duty and money laundering, has been bailed until January.
