Young water skier airlifted to hospital in Somerset

A young person on a water ski has been airlifted to hospital after being involved in an accident off the beach at Weston-super-Mare.

Weston RNLI said the 14-year-old girl was rescued from the water near the Grand Pier at 16:00 BST on Saturday.

It is understood she lost control and "cart-wheeled".

The coastguard helicopter was sent to the scene and the girl was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with suspected back injuries.
