Firefighters have been tackling a blaze which closed part of Bath city centre.

Crews from four stations were called to the fire on Manvers Street just after 13:15 BST on Saturday.

The fire broke out in a top floor residential flat and spread to the roof of the building.

As smoke from the fire hung over the city rugby fans watching Bath take on CA Brive in the European Cup were advised to avoid the area.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control, but there has been significant damage to one room of the flat.
