Rail line shut and roads closed after fire in Kilnhurst
Road and rail travel has been disrupted in South Yorkshire after a fire at a vehicle workshop at an industrial estate near Rotherham.
Fire broke out at the workshop in Glasshouse Lane in the Kilnhurst area on Saturday afternoon.
Several acetylene cylinders were involved. A cordon was placed around the area and the railway line was closed.
South Yorkshire Police said Wharf Road and Glasshouse Road was closed.
Investigation to follow
The force said the situation would be reviewed later on Sunday.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are working to make the cylinders safe and will remain at the scene until the cylinders are no longer dangerous.
At the height of the incident, there were four fire engines, a high volume pump and command support unit in attendance.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said it was too early to establish how the fire started, but a fire investigation would follow once the scene had been made safe.
