Police have closed a Sheffield nightclub after five men were stabbed outside.

Four men were arrested after the fight outside the Niche nightclub in Charter Row on 18 July. The men's injuries were not life-threatening at the time.

The club has been temporarily closed after police approached the city's licensing board to undertake a review of the licence granted to the club.

The board will meet on 12 August to discuss the club's licence conditions.

It has the option to fully revoke the club's licence.

Temporary Ch Supt Andy Barrs, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "The review is a fast-track process that allows the police to review previous incidents at the club and consider options to ensure that members of the public are protected from serious crime and disorder."

A police spokeswoman said the four men arrested in connection with the incident were currently on police bail.
