Crash after police pursuit of car in South Yorkshire

Three men have been arrested following a high-speed police pursuit of a stolen car.

South Yorkshire Police said the black Citroen C2 was later involved in a collision near Retford on Monday.

The force said the crash happened after officers had lost sight of the Citroen. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The incident was referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The case was not pursued.

The crash happened at about 1210 BST on Monday at the junction of Folly Nook Lane and Mattersey Road in Ranskill, near Retford.

It is believed the car had been stolen from an address in Doncaster.

Two of the men arrested had suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital, where they are still receiving treatment.

A third man was arrested a short distance away from the collision on suspicion of being involved, and was also taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.
