A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with murdering a fellow patient at a Sheffield hospital.

Police said Keith Headleand, 85, was attacked at Grenoside Grange Hospital in the early hours of Friday and died from heart failure.

A spokesperson for the local NHS Foundation Trust said it was assisting police with their inquiries and was carrying out its own investigation.

Alex Taylor, 64, from Sheffield, appeared before magistrates earlier.

He was remanded to reappear at Sheffield Crown Court on 27 August.
