Sheffield boy, eight, injured in paramedic car crash

An eight-year-old boy is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a paramedic vehicle which was responding to an emergency call.

The boy was hit by the Skoda vehicle, which had its blue lights and sirens activated, on Owler Lane in Sheffield at about 1800 BST on Saturday.

Police said the boy was reported to have run out into the road.

He is being treated at Sheffield Children's Hospital for head injuries and several suspected fractures.

The 28-year-old female paramedic was not injured.

Witnesses have been urged to contact South Yorkshire Police.
