Trouble-hit Goldthorpe traders install CCTV cameras
- Published
Shopkeepers in a South Yorkshire village have bought CCTV cameras after being plagued by anti-social behaviour.
It is hoped the cameras will deter vandalism and thefts on Doncaster Road in Goldthorpe.
They have been bought with a grant from Barnsley Council's renaissance market towns team.
Faye Duckett, from the team, said: "The retailers did come to us because they had problems with anti-social behaviour, damage, robberies."
She added: "We are hoping that [the cameras] will act not just as a prevention method but people will see that they're there and hopefully it will help reduce crime and the fear of crime that happens in Goldthorpe."
