Police spoke to more than 200 people during a night time appeal at the Rotherham canal where the body of a 17-year-old mother was found.

The body of Laura Mary Wilson, who had a four-month-old daughter, was found in the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation Canal in Rotherham.

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed while inquiries continue.

A police spokeswoman said the operation "went well".

She said detectives were working through information given to them during the appeal on Saturday night.

Miss Wilson's body was found on 12 October, three days after she was reported missing.

A post-mortem examination found she died from stab injuries.
