Doncaster racecourse has abandoned its two-day horse racing fixture for the coming weekend due to snow and frost.
The South Yorkshire venue was due to hold races on Friday and Saturday, but clerk of the course David Williams said the track was still covered in snow.
Mr Williams said: "We've seen no improvement whatsoever. The temperature dropped to -12C on Monday and it was still only -4C at 1600 GMT.
"We had a milder night in -2C but it's not enough of a rise."
He added: "Even if the snow did thaw, the soil is -3C underneath so that would leave us with waterlogging problems.
"We really have no choice but to abandon."
