Mexborough car crash girl's parents in witness appeal

The parents of a girl who was seriously injured in a road accident in which three teenagers died have urged anyone with information to contact the police.

Chloe Newby, 16, is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after the crash between a Vauxhall Corsa and VW Golf in Mexborough on Monday night.

Jonathan Scott, from Conisbrough and Robert Tepper of Mexborough, both aged 17, and a girl aged 16 died.

Miss Newby's parents have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

In a statement released by South Yorkshire Police, they said: "We would ask for people to assist the police with all inquiries, passing any information to South Yorkshire Police."

They also thanked the staff at Doncaster Royal Infirmary who were looking after their daughter.

Her parents added: "Our hearts and minds are with the families of the deceased."

A 19-year-old Swinton man and an 18-year-old man from Mexborough were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but later bailed pending further inquiries.
