Primary school blaze in Thurnscoe

More than 20 firefighters have been involved in tackling a fire at a school in South Yorkshire overnight.

The fire service was alerted to the incident at The Hill Primary School on Brunswick Street, Thurnscoe at about 2320 BST on Tuesday.

It is thought the fire started in a shed on the school site, before spreading to the main school building. It took about three hours to put out.

The school said it would be closed to its pupils for the day.
