A 34-year-old man has appeared in court after police found chemicals at a house in Sheffield.

James Curtis, of Ridegway Avenue, who is accused of two counts of possessing an explosive, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court.

South Yorkshire Police put a 100m cordon in place around Ridgehill Avenue, Intake, on Friday.

Mr Curtis, who was remanded in custody, is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court later this month.

A second man was arrested and released on bail until June pending further inquiries.
