Barnsley officer shot with air gun during stand-off

A police officer was shot in the hand with an air gun during a three hour stand-off in Barnsley.

Police said it began at 22:30 BST on Cutty Lane when they found a man holding a weapon.

He was then "contained" on School Street where the gun was fired several times, leading to an officer suffering "a minor hand injury".

A man in his 20s was arrested at 01:30 after trained negotiators were brought to the scene.
