Sheffield Forgemasters worker injured in gas explosion
A gas explosion and fire at a steel foundry that left an employee with burns is being investigated.
Sheffield Forgemasters said the fire, at about 15:45 BST on 9 August, was "quickly brought under control".
The company said the injured maintenance worker was being treated at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, which has a specialist burns unit.
The Health and Safety Executive said its investigation was at a very early stage and "could take several months".
Forgemasters said it was working closely with inspectors and the cause of the explosion was "uncertain".
A spokesperson added: "The incident was very localised away from production areas and caused only minor damage to the site.
"There were no other employees in the vicinity at the time."
