Two women and a man have admitted stealing seven six-week-old Poochon puppies in Doncaster.

Richard Thomas, 27, of Ennerdale Road, admitted burglary after forcing entry to a house on Cusworth Lane and stealing the puppies from a pen they were in with their mother.

Kerry Scase, 29, of Beech Street, South Elmsall and Tonya Newton, 25, of Almhome Lane, Arksey, admitted handling stolen goods.

The puppies were safely returned home.

Police found them six days after they were taken from their owners in May.

Det Con Andy Hotchkiss said: "The owners of the puppies suffered unnecessary distress and heartache when they were stolen."

The trio have been bailed until Tuesday, 25 November, when they will appear at Sheffield Crown Court for sentencing.
