Man denies Richard Broughton car death murder charge

A man has denied murdering a 37-year-old who was hit by a car during an "altercation".

Richard Broughton, died on 30 April, two days after he was struck by the vehicle in Welland Crescent, Elsecar.

Reece Thompson, 25, also known as Kayne Reece Jones, of Christchurch Road, Rotherham, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court.

He pleaded not guilty to murder and affray and was remanded in custody to face trial on 30 October.

John Paul Jones, 23, of Welland Crescent, appeared in court alongside Mr Thompson.

He pleaded guilty to charges of affray and witness intimidation and will be sentenced at the outcome of Mr Thompson's trial.
