Health warning after Staffordshire asbestos waste theft

A public health warning has been issued after a trailer loaded with 20 tonnes of highly toxic asbestos was stolen from a firm in Staffordshire.

Police said the waste might be dumped by the thieves and have warned people not to go near it if they come across it.

A lorry was used to steal the trailer from a skip hire firm in Burton-on-Trent at about 2230 BST on Tuesday.

Anyone who spots any dumped waste should call Staffordshire Police.

A reward may be given for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves, police said.
